492. The Everlasting Living Jesus Music Concert – Various Artists

THE EVERLASTING LIVING JESUS MUSIC CONCERT(1971)

Various Maranatha Artists

Not a live concert as I assumed the first time I listened, but rather a collection of the original Maranatha Music artists in 1971. Many included here would go on to birth what we know as CCM (possibly much to the chagrin of many included). Love Song, Gentle Faith, Children of the Day, The Way and others made their debuts on this project. It wopuld be the first of several “Maranatha Albums” which would serve as samplers of music coming out of Calvary Chapel, the label owning Church in Southern California the “birthed” Jesus Music.

This is the only various artists “Sampler” on the list though other album featuring various artists are included. It remains one of the most important releases in CCM history and one of the few samplers that delivers on every single track. It has been released on CD and is worth tracking down any way possible. I believe it also contains the only recording from the group Country Faith (someone please correct me if I am mistaken) which featured Chuck Butler, who would later go on to be a part of the group Parable.

Just got the cd. Takes me back to that joyful miraculous time during the Jesus movement. I feel privileged to have been a part of that
