Dan Peek Passes Away

Former member of America and CCM artist Dan Peek passed away yesterday (July 24th, 2011). I have not seen many details yet, but thought readers of this blog would like to know.

Dan wrote several hits for America (Lonely People, etc) and also had several major hits in the world of CCM, especially the classic “All Things Are Possible.” He had written a book about his time in America and his conversion and ministry.

I really liked All Things Are Possible, then later found out he wrote and sang with America. A great talent and great voice. Born in November 1950 – almost 61 years old.

During the 70′s a huge number of well known pop/rock stars came to believe in Jesus, sadly the majority didn’t stay true and eventually returned to their old lifestyles, however I noticed from his website that Dan Peek was still believing and promoting faith in the Messiah. His album Electro Voice is memorable, Dan sang ‘A New Song’, stood ‘On Solid Ground’, declared ‘Not My Will’ but His be done, ministered to the ‘Lonely People’, listened to ‘His Masters Voice’, and said one day ‘I’ll Be Coming Home’, so now people ‘Open Up Your Heart’ and receive Jesus and you’ll be in a position to go in ‘The Rapture’.God bless you and thank you Dan for your contribution. Our loss, Heavens gain.

Peek became a born-again Christian in 1977 and renounced drugs and alcohol, which led to him leaving America the same year. In 1979, he began a career in Christian pop with his first solo album All Things Are Possible, which was recorded for Pat Boone’s Lamb and Lion Records. In recent years, Peek went into semi-retirement while remaining active as a songwriter.
