I Suck

Sorry for the delays but we just moved and my station is doing our annual festival this weekend with Third day, Peter Furler, Sixteen Cities, Above the Golden State, Braille, Lybecker and others…

If anyone is in the Portland area I may be able to get you in…limited spots. The concert is Saturday the 20th

I just discovered your site. I just figured it was just my luck to find a great blog before it stopped posting. Thanks for the great work on the blog and promoting quality in the, usually, very complacent industry.

Dave….you don’t suck nearly as much as those bands you just mentioned ; )

But no one would come to a festival of our choosing

So on a side note. What were your favorite live shows. Limit yourself to 5 if you can. Rank them if you can too. I haven’t seen many but here they are anyway.

        5. V.O.L ( post Roof of the Sky; only show after I was older)
        4. Sweet Comfort Band (post Breakin’ the Ice)
        3. Degarmo and Key (after Straight On)
2 . Larry Norman (Each time which wasn’t often)
        1. (Daniel) Amos and Randy (Stonehill) (Don’t remember if it was after or right before Alarma)

No actual suction detected from my end. I would love the festival of your choosing. Take it on tour and I guarantee at least a couple dozen of us at each stop

Do they have to be Christian?

Not if you don’t want them to be.

Tis true, tis true! But a lot of people came to the first TOM festival.
IIRC, you and I were talking down there….that is where Frank Tate first gave you a cassette that featured a picture of Camille as the cover art…..or maybe you just showed me the mock-up?

RE: The above bands. Third Day, Furler and Above the Golden State don’t suck……but I probably would never pay for any of their music.

I actually like Lybecker quite a bit…Braille is very fun live. Third Day is nap time.

Yeah…I can’t really speak on Lybecker or Braille. Are they local Portland bands?

Braille is one of the new rash of Reformed rappers…high energy and smart. Lynecker is GREAT! From Tacoma area.

Have to agree with the Stonehill/DA concerts in 82-83. Saw them in Vancouver at a humble high school auditorium and was blown away. Best “Christian” concert for me, hands down, although I really haven’t been to a show like this since Larry Norman in the early 90s.

I love VOL but I don’t put Bill’s shows in any CCM category, along with Cockburn, U2 and the like.

Thanks for all your work with the subjective countdown. It’s fun, particularly when you drop names of long forgotten titles from the past.

I’ve Seen the Lost Dogs about 12 times in the last 6 years……..and brought a solo Terry to my school in Sept. 09. All these shows were marvelous but very slapdash……

Saw Terry and Phil Madeira a while back at a coffeehouse here in the frozen north. Felt a bit like hanging out together with them. Fun. Followed a local group called Pegtop for a while and got to see the Swirling Eddies once but haven’t really gone to concerts since the 80’s.
